Move you mouse to attract the particles. They will leave a color trace on their way. Click to clear the canvas.

Really cool effect.

I’m wondering how did you done that?

Arrays for positioning the particles and tweens, to move between of two positions?

Have a nice day.

Hey - Great Work!

I’m teaching an undergraduate course in basic flash, and one of my students wants to tackle recreating this animation.

I’ve spent a few hours on it, and have come up with a solution using AS2 and the drawing API…however, my version slows down after a little time.

Any assistance / recommendations / source code would be greatly appreciated, and would be used to help my student(s).

Thanks,
Mitch

very nice, andre. fun to play with. for those asking how, here’s what i see here… particles attracted to the mouse, faster when farther away (spring force / gravity?), drawing translucent sheets of color between then (bezier curves with low alpha) on a bitmapped background.

here’s my first stab at something like this. not as refined yet as andre’s, especially re. the color vairances, but that’s to be expected; my app. is only about 70 lines of code in Flash 8 so far…

dear andre,

you work is really impressive.

i work for a company in london called freestate (freestate.co.uk). i’m looking for a flash programmer to work on an exciting project for a large cultural institution over here. it requires jedi skills, and its got quite a tight turnaround. so if you are interested, perhaps you can get back to me at this address. many thanks!

don’t use the drawing API, its horribly slow, Use the bitmap, and setPixel32. it works amazingly fast
