This is a Karplus-Strong algorithm implementation, synthesizing a 6-sided guitar without any sample material in AS3. The result is simply amazing and there is still room for tweaking. The guitar body is just simulated by two mixed in low-pass filter with resonance. Also the sequencer is static at the moment. However you have some controls over the general playing characteristics We will develop the guitar for the AudioTool. Thus no sources this time.

Incredible, where would you begin to learn the theory / physics of sound needed to make the sound generator in AS3 actually make sounds that don’t hurt your ears?

Quite amazing. Have to listen close to tell there’s any synthesis going on..

That is rock solid. PS. If you add this to the Audiotool, a very strange subgenre of techno will rise.

Great, as any other thing you made here. But I think I found something. There is a very high whistling sound in the background of the gituar. Is that normal?

XD I’m really digging this.

It’s funny how every time I mess around with how it sounds while keeping the tension at 0.3363, I expect to almost hear a trance-like song.

It’s very interesting, not realistic but in the same way that 303 or 909 are not realistic emulations of bass and drums, so maybe like house in 80s new electronic music could born from these new organic synthesis… very pleasing to hear indeed!!

Although I Can’t See It,it sound beautiful!

Theodore wrote...

I’d be interested to hear how it sounds with notes that slide or hammer-on. Most guitarists use these techniques (as opposed to picking every note), and I bet it would add a level of realism. Karplus-Strong is well suited to it too: The delay line buffer would keep the picked note’s decay as the filter parameters shift.

As for patent issues, I think the patent may have expired. Didn’t K-S first publish the method in the early 1980s?

Very easy way to create simple songs to sing along to. A good idea is to record it using a desktop recorder that records any sounds that is made on your computer then plug in a mic, play it back then just sing along to it.
